Meet Karen, English language trainer

Karen, English trainer
Originally from Central America (Honduras), Karen's passion for foreign languages began when she was a child, thanks to her education at a NEASC/CIE* accredited bilingual school. English is therefore the equivalent of her mother tongue! With a Master's degree in English and Pedagogy, she is also fluent in French and Spanish, and has a wide range of experience in training. Since 2013, she has been coaching professionals, executives and managers in their use of English (Finance, Marketing, Human Resources).

Why did you become a trainer?

My teachers are a great source of inspiration. I was fascinated by their enthusiasm, their passion, and their ability to change our lives through their teaching!

What do you enjoy most about your job?

It's very gratifying to feel that you're contributing to the trainee's growth, helping them to gain in confidence and knowledge. You never stop learning, and you discover something new every day! And then... when you're teaching, you always have a good excuse to be able to tell people what to do and give them orders (laughs).

What's the most important thing for you when dealing with professionals?

Identify their specific needs, their learning style and understand the challenges of their career and profession. This preparatory work is key to preparing tailor-made support and making the course a rich and enjoyable experience for the participant.

Your best experience?

I had the unique opportunity to work in an association dedicated to children from disadvantaged families, which enabled young people to attend a bilingual school thanks to a scholarship. For them, it was a tremendous springboard that changed their lives and those of their families. And for me, it was incredible to be able to contribute!

And your worst memory?

I've had to face many challenges, but each of these experiences has enabled me to progress. I prefer to think of them as life lessons rather than bad memories.

Your motto as a trainer?

Teach as simply as possible, even if the concepts are complicated. And as Beyoncé says, "Just slay it!
